In the spirit of Agatha Christies' And Then There Were None or Richard Connell's The Most Dangerous Game, but in a lighter way, here are five movies which could be qualified as slapstick whodunits.

  • The Last of Sheila - A year after Sheila is killed in a hit-and-run, her multi-millionaire husband invites a group of friends to spend a week on his yacht playing a scavenger hunt-style mystery game.
  • Murder by Death - Five famous literary detective characters and their sidekicks are invited to a bizarre mansion to solve an even stranger mystery.
  • Clue - Six guests are invited to a strange house and must cooperate with the staff to solve a murder mystery.
  • Haunted Honeymoon - Larry Abbot, speaker in the radio horror shows of Manhattan Mystery Theater wants to marry. For the marriage he takes his fiancée home to the castle where he grew up among his eccentric relatives.

Almost made it to the list : Bloodbath at the House of Death (six scientists arrive at the creepy Headstone Manor to investigate a strange phenomena which was the site of a mysterious massacre years earlier).
